Experiment #17 (DUMBO)

Location | Brooklyn, NYC
Date | May 2013

The IPA’s inaugural project, Experiment #17 (DUMBO), was presented in May of 2013 in sites all across the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO.

Over the course of nine months, the IPA developed relationships with dozens of neighborhood businesses, artists, residents, and over 60 performers to create this site specific adventure across the historic neighborhood of DUMBO.

IPA co-founders and performers dancing in Brooklyn as a lead in to the Community Partners who participated in the DUMBO "experiment".

At the end of each experiment, audience members filtered back into a communal space where they drew maps of their adventures and put them on a wall. These artifacts become a collective psychogeographic map of the entire project.

Psychogeographic maps of the DUMBO experiement pinned to a wall which were drawn at the end of each experiment, after audience members filtered back into a communal space.
